Biography:

Maddie Politte-Corn is a fourth-year graduate student working with Dr. Kristin Buss in the Emotion Development Lab and pursuing a dual-title PhD in Developmental Psychology and Social and Behavioral Neuroscience. She received her bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Cornell College in 2020, her master‘s degree in Clinical and Developmental Research from Vanderbilt University in 2022 and completed a graduate certificate in Translational Science at Penn State in 2024. She is broadly interested in leveraging affective neuroscience, particularly EEG/ERP methods, to advance the early detection of risk and prevention of anxiety and depression. Specifically, she is interested in understanding alterations in emotion processing that confer risk for these problems during adolescence. As the CSC Graduate Research Assistant, Maddie prepares for and takes notes during CSC faculty meetings, assists with the Speaker Series, maintains CSC-related databases, and writes articles for the CSC website.
