CSC welcomes Dr. Evin Aktar

The CSC is pleased to welcome visiting assistant professor Evin Aktar!

Dr. Aktar received her Ph.D. in the Developmental Psychopathology section of the University of Amsterdam in 2016. Her Ph.D. project focused on the early transmission of depression and anxiety from parents to children. After completing her Ph.D., she continued her work in the Developmental Psychopathology section of the University of Amsterdam as a post-doc researcher, where she extended her research from infancy to childhood and adolescence years. Currently, Dr. Aktar is an assistant professor at the Clinical Psychology Department at Leiden University, the Netherlands.

The recipient of a Rubicon Grant, Dr. Aktar will be spending a year working with Dr. Koraly Perez-Edgar in the Cognition, Affect, and Temperament (CAT) Lab, furthering her research on the development of anxiety in preschool children. In her current research, she is adopting a multi-method approach that incorporates the study of emotional expressions, attention and physiology in parents and children for a better understanding of the mechanisms explaining intergenerational transmission of depression and anxiety.

The CSC welcomes Dr. Aktar!
