Jennifer Daniels (’14)

Jennifer Daniels is a senior double majoring in Psychology and Biology. As a pre-med student, she was interested in getting involved in research early on. She has been involved in research at the Child Study Center since her sophomore year working with Dr. Jenae Neiderhiser on the Early Growth & Development Study (EGADS). In the lab, Jennifer has been mostly working with medical records. She has coded the mothers’ medical records for drug use, psychiatric disorders, illnesses, and chronic diseases. Similarly, Jennifer codes the children’s growth pattern, illnesses, and chronic diseases. Currently, Jennifer is helping keep these records organized as well as training other students on how to code these records. She says that this research “has been a great experience because it is a good balance between her psychological and medical interests.” In fact, she is interested in being a family practitioner in large part because of this research experience. She is interested in “seeing the whole family.”

Jennifer has also been a teaching assistant for the physiology lab for two semesters. In addition, she is the secretary and THON chair of the Premedical Honor Society, Alpha Epsilon Delta. After graduation, she will do more research while she applies for medical schools.
