Bullying Prevention: Evidence-Based Approaches in Schools

Bullying Prevention: Evidence-Based Approaches in Schools

The Tenth Annual Central PA Workshop on Evidence-Based Mental Health Services

This workshop explores the essential elements of effective bullying prevention policies and practices in K-12 school settings. Participants will examine how bullying and related behaviors are defined and learn strategies for identifying, reporting, and responding to concerns. Prevention approaches will be presented within a Multi-Tiered System of Support (MTSS) framework, with an emphasis on building a positive school climate that fosters respect, belonging, and safety. The workshop will also review evidence-informed interventions, including coaching strategies for both targets of bullying and students who engage in bullying behaviors. In addition, approaches to empower bystanders to become upstanders will be discussed. Participants will have opportunities to engage in small-group discussions and apply concepts through case-based scenarios.
